When will it end...

Today was another disappointing day in terms of the MRSA. I went to have a wound check and have the packing from Monday remove only to be told it is not healing and there is still agreat deal of infection. They had to re-open (yes, cut) it and go deeper in an attempt to get this under control. I will have to go back yet again Saturday when I will be admitted if it has not improved.

Having this infection has made keeping up with my schoolwork a huge challenge. It is hard to concentrate and focus on the task at hand when you are in so much pain. However, such is life and I am plugging away at it. I just hope I can keep my head above water until this is over for as my good friend Kim is always telling me, "this too shall pass...".

  1. Hello Gail. I am so sorry to hear of your infection. I also was diagnosed with MRSA after I had my abdominal hysterectomy. I ended up receiveing a wound vac which was not fun but after being in the hospital for 3 weeks it was heaven. You might want to ask you doctor if your wound could get one instead of being away from your children. It is wonderful that you have support because without that where would we be. You will be in my thoughts for a speedy recovery. Take care.

  2. Gail yes this too shall pass do not worry. God never gives us more than we can handle even though we may think why me he knows what he is doing and he is just making sure is angel (you) are able to handle anything he throws at you. I know you probably say Kim does he not think I have enough to deal with (without putting your personal business out there) but trust me he has a plan for all his creatures and some must endure more than others because we are special to him and he tests our loyalty to him and his universe. So again I will tell you this to shall pass and we will be laughing about it at our graduation where I will have the pleasure of meeting you. I am so looking forward to that day and time in our life. Heal quickly gods angel.

  3. Gail,

I had MRSA two years ago. I actually thought at first it was a spider bite and when I went to the hospital the ER doctors said it was simply a bacterial infection. The doctors didn't take a culture or anything. I followed up with my primary physician and she took a culture, which came back saying I had MRSA. I ended up getting more bumps on the lower part of my body and I actually cried because I didn't know what was wrong. Turns out people can carry staph in their body, but not be affected by it.

I understand what you're going through and I hope and pray that everything gets better.

  4. Gail,
I can relate to how you are feeling right now. I too have had MRSA before and I too had to have the wound re-opened and drained. It is very painful! I hope that next week will bring you better news and hopefully you will be feeling much better!
